Golf is becoming increasingly popular in Spain and subsequently this has led to an increase in the number of golf courses in Salou.
With at least four major golf clubs in the Salou region of the Costa Dorada, which are notable both for the excellent condition of their greens and the range of services on offer. In addition, as the courses are relatively close to Salou, they also enjoy the warm, mild climate typical of the area, so that golf can be played all year round. They also boast enviable locations, many with stunning views of the sea and mountains. Club de Golf Costa Dorada
Situated at the gates of the ancient Roman city “Tarraco” only 10 minutes from Salou and surrounded by places of archaeological interest, it was declared a world heritage sight in the year 2000. Tarragona is now a popular tourist destination, attracting a large number of tourists looking to relax on the fine sandy beaches of the Costa Dorada.
Tarragona is a city which maintains its traditions and culture, which spring from the time when it was the capital of this Roman province. The Costa Dorada Golf Club consists of an 18 hole, par 72 course in a perfectly integrated Mediterranean environment. This ideally situated golf course, with its mild sunny winters, warm summers and its gentle sea breeze, offers all year round enjoyment. From beginners to more experienced players, everyone can enjoy this course which combines complicated holes, with water features, dog-legs, bunkers and lynx style holes. A traditional Catalan country house rests on the Golf Club hill, and is the ideal place to socialise, or eat in the restaurant which specialises in Catalan food. Other services also offered to the members or players are two large swimming pools, a golf shop and a crèche service. For golfers there are two putting-greens and one driving-range, as well as an approach area and bunkers, ideal for practising before setting off for a round. Club de Golf Bonmont
Just 10 minutes from Salou Bonmont is laid out around a magnificent 18-hole par 72 golf course, which creates a most attractive setting. The natural undulations of the land, the lakes and the communitys gardens and homes all blend seamlessly against this backdrop of green. The work of one of the worlds leading experts, Robert Trent Jones Jr, Bonmont Golf Course has been designed to captivate and challenge those who play here. A golf course, says Robert Trent Jones Jr, that does not challenge the golfer both mentally and physically may be an experience that is easily forgotten, however idyllic the setting.
At Bonmont, completely the opposite is true; we have created a real gem of a course, every bit as magnificent as King Solomons Mines, created out of the living rock and converted into an emerald oasis with numerous challenges for the golfer. The course features numerous natural and man-made hazards. These include imposing gullies, six lakes carved out of the rock, bridges, copses, more than 90 bunkers and ample, beautifully manicured greens. There is also a natural grass driving range. With each hole holding its own particular challenges and out of bounds never far away, the layout of the course provides a stern test of shot-making for the golfer.
